Caribbean Premier League (Caribbean Premier League) have been half as compared to 2021. A total of 33 T20 matches are to be played in this tournament which started from 26th of last month till 15th September. Of these, 18 matches have taken place.
The special thing is that in the matches held so far, those batsmen and bowlers who were not sold in the auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) have been ignorant. Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings has only one batsman and one bowler to make it to the top-5 of the list of highest run-getters and most wicket-takers in the tournament.
Both of them are legendary South African cricketers (Faf du Plessis and Imran Tahir). Duplessis has also been the captain of the South African team. The list of highest run-scorers of CPL 2021 is topped by Barbados cricketer Roston Chase. At the same time, Ravi Rampaul of Trinidad and Tobago is in the list of highest wicket takers. Both of them are not part of IPL.
Evin Lewis, Sherfane Rutherford, Chanderpaul Hemraj and Faf du Plessis are at number two, third, fourth and fifth respectively in the list of highest run scorers. Evin Lewis was not sold in the auction for IPL 2021. His base price was Rs 1 crore. Sherfane Rutherford also went unsold in the auction for IPL 2021. Rutherford’s base price as an all-rounder was 75 lakhs.
Fourth-ranked Chandrapal Hemraj is also not a part of the IPL. Faf du Plessis was a part of Chennai Super Kings in IPL from 2011 to 2015. From 2016 to 2017 he played in IPL for Rising Pune Superjoint and since 2018 till now he is a part of Chennai Super Kings.
Similarly, if we talk about the highest wicket-takers, then the top-ranked Ravi Rampaul is not a part of the IPL. The second number is Romario Shepherd. Romario Shepherd was not sold in the auction for IPL 2020. The base price of the all-rounder Shepherd was Rs 50 lakh. South African bowler Migael Pretorius is at number three. He is also not a part of IPL.
Kesrick Williams is at number four. Kesrick Williams was also not sold in the auction for IPL 2020. Former South African spinner Imran Tahir is at number five. Imran Tahir first became a part of IPL in 2014.
Imran Tahir played for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) from 2014 to 2016. In the auction for the year 2018, Chennai Super Kings bought him as a bowler for one crore rupees. Since then he has been an important part of Mahi’s team.
